Last night I had the pleasure of attending a Lovefest Brickskeller beer tasting.
Rob Tod from Allagash Brewing and Vinnie Cilurzo were on hand to talk about the wonderful selection of beers they brought from with them for the tasting.

This year Old Dominion is producing a Belgian style Golden Ale. They have brewed it using pilsner and wheat malt, along with Saaz and East Kent Golden hops. They have used authentic Belgian Ardennes yeast to give it a true Belgian flavor.

Dominion has a limited supply of Octoberfest which they are going to be selling at the brewpup for $16 per case. The beer is close to the end of it’s shelf life and they say that it is is showing slight signs of oxidation but is still delicious.

I have been hearing some rumbling for a while now, but I thought the deal was dead. Today the Washington Post is reporting Old Dominion Brewery sale appears imminent. The deal would involve Old Dominion, Ram’s Head Tavern and the beer giant Anheuser-Busch.
